MID wasted no time wrapping up a first title success in the Lothians & Fife Golf Associations Winter League since 2002.
They won the top two games against Fife in the final round of matches at Mortonhall to secure the point needed before drawing 2-2.
Mid discovered a useful opening partnership this season in experienced Duddingston man David Miller and Liberton youngster Kieran Cantley. And they delivered the goods again with a 3&2 triumph over Alex Moir (Thornton) and David Mitchell (Leven Thistle) that was set up by an eagle and five birdies.
It was another Duddingston/Liberton combination that ended Mid’s title drought as Gus Santanta and Anthony Blaney beat Ryan Walsh (Kirkcaldy) and Connor McKinney (Pitreavie) 5&4. Despite fighting back to earn a point, Fife were pipped for second spot by West on ‘goal’ difference. It followed West ending their campaign with a 2-2 draw as East picked up their first point of the campaign.
Young guns Chris Curran (Harburn) and Joe Bryce (Bathgate) were impressive 4&2 winners over Longniddry duo Michael Bacigalupo and Connor Farrell in that one.
But another Longniddry lad, David Rudd, had better luck as he joined forces with Dunbar’s Zander Culverwell for a 2&1 win over Ross Callan (Bathgate) and Jack McVey (Turnhouse).
