Liberton are the South East Edinburgh Winter League champions after Prestonfield fell at the final hurdle.
A draw or win at Craigmillar Park in the last match of the campaign would have done the trick for Prestonfield.
But they went down 2½-1½ as Craigmillar Park chalked up only a second win of the season.
Sandy Scott and Craig Murison, two Craigmillar Park stalwarts, shared the spoils with the equally experienced Kenny Bisset and Scott Johnston in the top tie. The next two games both went to the home club, as would have the bottom one but for Prestonfield team manager Ricky Myles and Kevin McGhee winning five holes on the back nine to finish one up.
It left Liberton’s eight-point haul as being good enough to claim the title, followed by Prestonfield, Duddingston and Craigmillar Park.
Meanwhile, Longniddry stand between Gullane and an historic East Lothian double after the pair reached the final of the Winter League Cup.
Gullane, the league champions, pipped Tantallon 3-2 away while Longniddry won by the same score at home to Dunbar.
On the pro scene, Duddingston-based John Gallagher agonisingly missed the cut by one shot in the Red Sea Little Venice Open after a second-round 75.
