CAPITAL-BASED Richie Ramsay will try to think he’s playing a bounce game at St Andrews this week instead of making his fifth Open appearance.

The 32-year-old, who only got into the field on Sunday off the reserve list, reckons having a relaxed attitude is what helps bring out the best in him.

“I play my best golf when I play with my mate Ricky Bortles out in America,” said the three-times European Tour winner. “I love playing with him as he has a great attitude and positivity about him. I just need to imagine I am playing with him this week because when I do I am always looking forward to it. He is someone who is my best friend in the States.

“He is older and someone who I can play golf with and rely on to speak to about stuff that happens on and off the course. He is very knowledgeable and he has a good head for business when it comes to making the big decisions.

“It wouldn’t matter if I was a tour player or a 20-handicapper, I would still get along with him.”
