THIS year’s four semi-finalists have avoided each other in the unseeded draw for next season’s Edinburgh Summer League.

Royal Burgess, winners for the last six years, should have few problems progressing to the knock-out phase in their bid for a “Magnificent Seven”.

It follows the Barnton club coming out of the pot along with Murrayfield, Merchants, Ratho Park, Swanston New and Prestonfield.

“We are pleased with our draw but I am sure we will face a few tricky matches along the way,” said Burgess team manager Richard Hughes.

“Whilst people will see us as favourites to qualify, we know a lot of clubs would like our scalp because of our recent record.

“We will take nothing for granted and as always will do our best to try and put up a good defence of our title.”

Harburn, back in the fold following Lothianburn’s withdrawal, are in the same group as Duddingston, this year’s beaten finalists.

Group A: Musselburgh, Dalmahoy, Turnhouse, Mortonhall, Bruntsfield and Kingsknowe.

Group B: Harburn, Newbattle, Royal Musselburgh, Silverknowes, Duddingston and Broomieknowe.

Group C: Royal Burgess, Murrayfield, Merchants, Ratho, Swanston and Prestonfield.

Group D: Torphin Hill, West Linton, Liberton, Baberton, Glencorse and Craigmillar Park.
