The Steedmans enjoyed a day to cherish in Murrayfield’s finals day – by claiming a trophy treble.

Mum Caroline led the way as she landed the ladies’ title for a third time, beating nine-time winner Val Aitchison by two holes after holing a ten-foot birdie putt on the 17th hole.

Her joy was shared by daughters Rachel, 22, and Abby, 12, as they both defended titles. Lauren won the B division, beating Pam Townsend, while Abby hung on to the junior crown with a one-hole win over Sophia Gonzalez.

“We are all delighted; a great achievement that I’m not sure has been done before,” said Caroline.

The Murrayfield men’s title fell to Andrew Ni, who beat Ali Thurlow in a tussle between two rising stars.
