Andrew Oldcorn is hoping a strong finish to the season can secure him two over-50s major dates in the US next year.

The Capital star cemented his top-10 place on the European Senior Tour Order of Merit by finishing joint-14th in the Prostate Cancer UK Scottish Senior Open at Archerfield Links.

“Ideally by the end of the year I’d like to be sitting in the top six on the money-list once the likes of Bernhard Langer and David Frost come off it due to the fact they’ll not have played enough events,” said Oldcorn.

“That would get me into the US Senior Open as well as the Senior PGA next year, so that’s my short-term goal.”

After a closing 72 for a four-under 212 total, the Kings Acre Academy-attached player finished seven shots behind the winner, England’s Paul Eales, in East Lothian. “Today was much better and my game is closer than it was at the beginning of the week,” he added.
