DUDDINGSTON’S bid for a dream double fell at the final hurdle as Turnhouse were crowned as the “Kings of Capital Golf”.

The pair fought out the final of the Edinburgh Inter-Club as the tournament reached its conclusion at Liberton on Saturday. Turnhouse booked their spot in the title showdown after beating Prestonfield in a tight semi-final.

The top Turnhouse couple of Olly McCrone and Steven Armstrong finished one down to Ricky Myles and Arran McHardy.

At the back, Graham Robertson and Lee McCathie wiped out that deficit as they beat Scott Johnston and Duncan Johnston by two holes.

Duddingston had a more comfortable passage in their last-four meeting with Baberton, beating the Juniper Green men 8 and 7.

Stuart Knox and Conor Scott finished three up on Dougie Waugh and Robert Carson while Gary Thomson and Cameron Hay won by five holes over Tom Cannon and Stephen Marshall. It left Duddingston on the verge of adding the Capital crown to their Lothians Team Tournament triumph earlier in the summer.

The honour went to Turnhouse instead, though, with Steven Armstrong and Olly McCrone being the heroes for the team on this occasion as they finished two up at the front as the back match ended all square.
