Edinburgh Capitals will be in the last-chance saloon tomorrow night when they travel to face Hull Stingrays in ice hockey’s Elite League.
The Caps crashed 5-0 at Coventry Blaze at the weekend to leave them in ninth place in the league – four points behind the Stingrays, who have a game in hand.
It means the Murrayfield outfit must win at the Hull Arena tomorrow if they are to have any realistic chance of claiming one of the top eight spots in the league and with it a place in the end-of-season play-offs.
Blaze registered a sixth successive victory at the Skydome on Saturday as Edinburgh were stunned early on. Richard Hartmann’s side were two down inside five minutes with Derek Lee getting the go-ahead goal after 70 seconds before Jereme Tendler added a second.
Mike Egener grabbed his second goal of the season on 22 minutes with Ben Arnt scoring a fourth on the powerplay six minutes later.
