Edinburgh Capitals went down 6-3 at Cardiff Devils last night, a result that put an end to their slim play-off hopes with two games of the ice hockey season remaining.

Greg Collins (2) and Jade Portwood were on target for the Murrayfield men, however defensive lapses in the opening period proved dear as Devils led 4-2 after 20-minutes.

Cardiff’s goals came through Markku Tahtinen, Doug Clarkson, Joey Martin (2), Matthew Myers and a last minute empty-net goal from Jake Morrisette.

Victory sent Cardiff level at the top of the Elite League with Sheffield Steelers.

It also confirmed Fife Flyers in the play-offs and also Hull Stingrays.

Capitals will now assess the season.
