Edinburgh Capitals’ Scottish National League squad ended the ice hockey season on a high, retaining the Scottish Cup with a hard fought 4-3 victory over Kirkcaldy Kestrels in Fife.

Goals from Jay King, Sean Donaldson, Sean Beattie and a third period game winning strike from Joel Gautschi saw team captain Chris Blackburn lift the trophy for a second straight year.

Added to their recent league championship and Play-Off success, the win completes a clean sweep of all three trophies at SNL level.

Capitals SNL coach Scott Neil said: “I’m delighted for the boys, they‘ve worked really hard all year and tonight have sewn up the grand-slam. Kirkcaldy gave us a really tough game, we ran into some penalty trouble towards the end but we dug deep and held on.”
