Edinburgh Capitals players Jay King, left, and Riley Emmerson are urging fans to cheer them on at ‘Hogmanay Hockey’ tomorrow when they take on Fife Flyers at Murrayfield.
The Caps round off their calendar year with what is fast becoming their traditional Hogmanay clash with Fife Flyers (face-off 4pm).
Edinburgh and Fife reinstated one of the oldest rivalries in top-flight British ice hockey when Flyers joined the Elite League in 2010, and tomorrow will be the fourth straight season the two clubs have seen in the New Year after battling it out on the ice at Murrayfield.
Edinburgh Capitals co-owner Scott Neil said: “If you only get the chance to see one game this season, this is the one to go for. ‘Hogmanay Hockey’ has proved a great success and gives fans of our sport a great day out before kicking off their New Year celebrations.
“Our rivals from across the Forth currently lead the series 2-1, but we’ll be doing everything we can to repeat the 4-3 win we achieved last year
“I don’t think its mere coincidence that we’ve had three cracking games here in the past with never more than a goal in it.
“Traditionally this is one of our biggest crowds of the season, and the match is played out in front of a great atmosphere.”
