Sacked Edinburgh Capitals player Joe Grimaldi has been banned for 18 Elite League matches after last weekend’s fight with Nottingham Panthers’ Max Parent.
The Murrayfield-based club axed the American after he speared an opponent and then threw his helmet in the face of Parent. He was sent off for his actions and subsequently had his contract terminated by the Caps.
As Grimaldi is no longer at the club, Caps will be without one of their imports for ten matches as punishment for his conduct.
Caps are in action this weekend against Fife Flyers and Braehead Clan.
