Roslin canoeist Bradley Forbes-Cryans joined fellow Scots David Florence, Eilidh Gibson and Fiona Pennie in this weekend’s World Championship slalom semi-finals after a solid run in yesterday morning’s K1 kayak heats at the Lee Valley Olympic venue in London.
The 20-year-old clocked a swift 82.45secs on his first attempt, although a two-second time penalty for touching a gate pushed him down to 18th place out of 103 starters. That was still comfortably inside the top 30 qualifiers from the first run and automatically booked his spot in tomorrow’s semis. New Zealander Mike Dawson went quickest in 81.28.
Following a day off yesterday, Florence is back on the water today when he and London’s Rich Hounslow will attempt to recapture the C2 doubles title which they won in Prague in 2013. The pair qualified impressively in third place in Wednesday’s heats.
