Murrayfield curlers Gina Aitken and Bruce Mouat will attempt to reclaim the trophy and qualify for next April’s World Championships when the Scottish Mixed Doubles Championship gets underway at Glasgow’s Braehead Arena tomorrow.

Aitken and Mouat lifted the title in both 2012 and 2013 but were deposed last year by husband-and-wife team Lee and Judith McCleary.

This weekend’s winners will represent Scotland at the Mixed Doubles Worlds in Karlstad, Sweden next spring, but Aitken and Mouat are not looking beyond their opening match against Sophie Jackson and Ross Whyte. Gina’s dad and sister, David and Karina, are also competing together and take on Hailey and John Duff first.
