Defending champions City of Edinburgh need to upset leaders Su Ragazzi in the women’s Scottish Volleyball League at Queensferry High School tomorrow to avoid being involved in a game of catch-up this season.
Ragazzi have set the standard this season with four wins out of four in competitive matches, but Edinburgh Jets took them the full distance last weekend after winning the first two sets, only losing 15-13 in the tie-break set.
It will give City hope that they can topple Ragazzi, who have been revitalised since the return of Great Britain Olympic captain Lynne Beattie this season.
City outlasted Aberdonia in five sets last weekend in a match of thrilling rallies.
Edinburgh Jets travel to face Troon Team Ayrshire at Marr College, also mindful that they can ill afford another loss.
Jets lost in straight sets to Troon in the John Syer Trophy earlier this month, but the final two sets were close.
In the men’s first division, City of Edinburgh’s young side travel to Laurencekirk to face Bon Accord.
City are in the wrong half of the table, but a win tomorrow would put them back in the mix.
