City of Edinburgh are determined to snap a three-match losing streak when they head west tomorrow to take on Troon Team Ayrshire in the women’s Scottish Volleyball League.
The Capital side have already suffered a straight-sets defeat by Troon earlier in the season but almost pulled off a remarkable win over Su Ragazzi last weekend in the John Syer Trophy.
Indeed, City led 14-8 in the fifth set, but Ragazzi, with some strong serving by Carly McKinlay, won the next eight points to take the set 16-14.
It means tomorrow’s match will be a test of character for Edinburgh as they seek to put that collapse behind them.
Edinburgh Jets should pick up all three points at bottom-of-the-table North Lanarkshire tomorrow to boost their play-off hopes.
In the men’s first division, champions Edinburgh Jets, currently fourth, visit top-of-the-table South Ayrshire and City of Edinburgh host City of Glasgow Ragazzi.
The first silverware of the season is up for grabs on Sunday with the finals of the John Syer Trophy at Linlithgow Academy.
The power base looks to have shifted, possibly only temporarily, to the west with no east of Scotland involvement for the first time.
Glasgow Mets meet South Ayrshire in the men’s final and Su Ragazzi take on Troon Team Ayrshire for the women’s trophy.
