Curling: Aitken victim of inspired home display

Have your say

Edinburgh curler Gina Aitken bowed out of the Kinross Open after running into an inspired display from local skip Ross McCleary in yesterday’s quarter-finals.

The Scottish junior champion reached the last eight thanks to Saturday’s 6-5 victory over Dundee’s John Duff and she also acquitted herself creditably when losing 6-3 to double world silver medallist Tom Brewster, who topped Section A.

But the wheels came off yesterday morning as McCleary stormed through 13-2 after counting six stones at the third end and five more at the fifth.
