Gina Aitken and Bruce Mouat made it a golden day for Edinburgh curling at the Scottish Junior Championships in Aberdeen yesterday.
Aitken retained her ladies’ title, while Mouat became men’s champion for the first time, and they will now go on to represent Scotland at next month’s World Juniors in Tallinn, Estonia.
Aitken controlled yesterday’s knockout matches, beating local girl Rebecca Morrison 6-5.
It was a similar story in the final where she converted a 7-3 advantage into a 7-6 win over Amy MacDonald.
The Elgin skip had eliminated Gina’s little sister, Karina, in a tie-breaker on Saturday.
Mouat had lost his opening round robin fixture last Tuesday, but he put together a nine-game winning streak, including back-to-back victories yesterday over Forfar’s Stuart Taylor (8-3) and runner-up Kyle Waddell (5-4).
