Roared home by a rousing support, Alex Marshall and Paul Foster produced a grandstand finish in their fourth pairs match to beat South Africa.
Foster and Marshall looked likely to suffer their first defeat as they trailed Gerry Baker and Jason Evans 15-7 with only three ends remaining, but the duo produced an stunning finale as they reeled off a treble, single and an amazing count of five shots to pip the Springbok duo 16-15.
They will now face New Zealand to see who clinches the gold medal.
Tranent’s Alex Marshall said: “When we got the opportunity in the last couple of ends, Paul was able to make for great shot and kept all his bowls in the target area to give me the opportunity to make the counts we needed. The five to win the match was amazing.
“The supporters were magic. It’s always good to have home support. They backed us all the way.”
David Peacock, Neil Speirs and Darren Burnett also continued their winning form and beat Niue and then Namibia and they go head to head today against Walesto decide who will take a pole position finish.
