GRANGE suffered a disappointment ahead of their appearance in the Euro Hockey League later this week in Hamburg, Germany.

The Edinburgh side led 3-1 at Auchenhowie at half-time against Western but lost 4-3.

Cammy Frazer, Grange’s captain, admitted that the full-strength side played well in the opening period but dipped in the second.

He added: “That happens sometimes but it is early in the season.”

Antonis Efthymiou and Jamie Wong scored for Edinburgh University in a comfortable win at bottom club Uddingston.

Hillhead remained in pole position with 12 points, three points clear of Bromac Kelburne, thanks to a 7-4 success at second-bottom MJV Dundee Wanderers.

Kelburne won 2-0 at PSL Team Sport Clydesdale and Grove Menzieshill hammered Gordonians 9-1 on Tayside.
