Blackhall’s Hannah Sharp marked her first appearance at the annual East Lothian Open tennis tournament at North Berwick by winning the women’s singles unseeded with victory over Heather Croll (Barnton Park).

Miss Croll, however, could take consolation from a double in the girls’ under-16 and under-18 singles and adding to family honours brother Jamie and dad Derek won in the inaugural parent/child doubles title.

The men’s singles went south to Ealing with Charles Turney who later, in partnership with Richard Jones, was beaten in the men’s doubles final by Braid pair Lloyd Greatorex-Watson and Oliver Darbyshire.

The women’s doubles went to Zoe Henderson and Hannah Watson while, in the mixed doubles, Craig McFife shook off a shoulder injury to win with Tara Harvey.

Philip Blythe confirmed his dominance of the boys’ junior sections with wins at under-16 and under-18 while local hopes were successfully carried by John Reid who won the over-55 singles and over-45 doubles in partnership with Gary Melville (St Serfs). John’s wife, Trudi, won the over-40 women’s doubles with Jaye Martin from Western and North Berwick club coach Adele Fletcher beat Toni Lemmon in the over-40 women’s singles.
