Hockey umpire Sarah Wilson, who teaches at George Watson’s College, has been honoured after a successful year.
In 2014 she officiated at the bronze medal match in the Glasgow Commonwealth Games then the final of the women’s FIH Champions Trophy in Argentina with a Scottish hockey umpiring award.
In the past she was part of the Umpires Development Programme (UDP) of the European Hockey Federation where she graduated in 2012.
“The UDP was brilliant,” she said. “It has given me the foundation to move forward.
THer school supports her umpiring career giving her the necessary free time to take appointments. Asked about her objectives in umpiring Wilson said: “I would love to go all the way to the World Panel and to Rio (Olympics 2016).”
Also, Michael Gibson, from Inverleith, has been named Volunteer of the Year and is pictured, left, receiving his award from Scottish Hockey president Martin Boag.
