Edinburgh University claimed a place in the semi-finals of hockey’s Scottish Cup for the second year running with a 4-3 win over city rivals Grange.
Goals from Ian Moodie, Dan Coultas, Gordon Amour and Aeden McCrossan put the Peffermill-based combine through.
University player Stephen Dick said: “We should have scored more goals as we dominated but defensive mistakes let Grange back in. However, we are in the last four. Now, I don’t mind who we play. Top teams make the final four and we have to deal with whoever we are drawn against.”
The students remain the only Capital side left in the competition as Inverleith were swept aside 9-1 by Grove Menzieshill, Andrew Dane netting a consolation.
Results: Grange 3, Edinburgh University 4; Bromac Kelburne 5, St Andrews University 0; Inverleith 1, Grove Menzieshill 9; PSL Team Sports Clydesdale 6, AAM Gordonians 2.
Grange, meanwhile, bounced back with a 6-0 victory over lowly MJV Dundee Wanderers in a Division One clash at Fettes yesterday.
