Hockey: Scotland in double win over Wales

Have your say

SCOTLAND men wrapped up a hockey double over Wales yesterday with a 4-1 win at Peffermill.

Now they face England A in Edinburgh next weekend as their build-up to the EuroHockey Nations Championship II continues.

Goals from debutant Paul Martin (Grove Menzieshill), his club-mate Gavin Byers, Inverleith midfielder Derek Salmond and Ian Moodie (Western)
secured the win.

The victory followed Saturday’s 2-1 win at the same venue and team manager Eugene Connolly said: “We’ve had a satisfactory weekend.”

Scotland opened the scoring after 12 minutes through Martin but Wales hit back following a penalty corner award.

Byers put Scotland ahead for the second time before half-time and Salmond and Moodie completed the scoring.
