Edinburgh middleweight Sally Conway will spearhead Great Britain’s bid for medals at the European Judo Championships in Montpellier from April 24-27.
Conway, the world No.9, has had her place confirmed in the individual events after silver medals at recent Grand Prix events in Germany and Turkey. In the final qualifying event for selection for the Commonwealth Games, Conway is looking to rubber-stamp her place for Glasgow.
“I am excited about the Europeans and I am preparing to put in a good performance,” she said.
“If I can do this I feel I can come away with a medal which I really want to achieve.”
Conway will only compete in the individual event, but four other Scots – all based at Ratho – have been named in the Great Britain side for the team event.
Edinburgh’s Patrick Dawson (Under-73kg), Chris Sherrington (Over-90kg), Connie Ramsay (Under-57kg) and Jodie Mullen (Under-63kg) will all look to book their places in Scotland’s Commonwealth Games team.
