Local stars pass first test in squash event

Local favourites Senga Macfie and Lauren Gray both won tough matches in the women’s qualifiers as the Edinburgh Sports Club Open, the richest event on the British pro squash circuit, got under way last night.

There was further home success in the men’s qualifiers, with Alan Tasker, James Jacobsen, Rory Stewart, Iain Stewart, Chris Gray and tournament director Simon Boughton among the winners.

The tournament runs until Sunday.
