Second Division outfit NUVOC created Scottish volleyball history at the Edinburgh University Pleasance by becoming the first lower division team to reach the men’s Scottish Cup final.

In their 40th anniversary year, the Capital side beat holders and local rivals Edinburgh Jets in straight sets 25-16, 25-18, 25-13. NUVOC did not look in any serious trouble as Jets struggled to build up any momentum.

Having won 15 out of 15 in Division Two, NUVOC have knocked out two First Division sides on the way to the final and now only Glasgow Mets stand in their way.

Mets beat City of Glasgow Ragazzi in straight sets in the other semi-final and will start as favourites next month.

But they will be wary of the threat posed by NUVOC who will be out to celebrate their big anniversary in style.
