Edinburgh’s roller derby league is gearing up for the first bouts of the home season on Saturday at Meadowbank.

All six teams come under the umbrella of Auld Reekie Roller Girls and first into action are champions Leithal Weapons who take on The Cherry Bombers as part of the intra-league championship.

Leithal Weapons captain Caroline Gibb, aka Mallory Powers, said: “Home season is a chance for us to showcase the sport we love. the rosters have really been shaken up for 2014 and With rookie potential skating alongside international level skaters, it’s bound to be full of surprises.

Cherry Bombers captain Mo Ford, aka Mo B Quick, said: “We can’t wait for home season. It’s such an exciting chance for newer skaters to build up their experience and for veterans to try new things.”

Doors open at 2pm. Tickets are £5 in advance, or £7 on the day. Under-14s go free with a paying adult.
