GEORGE WATSON’S last won the Scottish Schools Hockey Cup in 2010 and they are determined to regain the silverware tonight.

Watson’s square up to surprise packets Edinburgh Academy in the final at Glasgow’s National Hockey Centre.

Coach Mike Leonard said: “We have a solid squad who gel and work well for one another.

“We beat Balerno, Strathallan in the quarter-final and Fettes 3-2 in the semi-final.

“It is a big night for the boys and an achievement for both schools to have made it to the final.”

Edinburgh Academy beat Glenalmond in the preliminary round, then Merchiston Castle and Glasgow School of Sport before edging Glasgow-based Hutcheson’s Grammar School in their semi-final.

Coach Chris Duncan said: “The boys have not made it past the first round of the competition before.

“Their belief has grown round by round but they have to put that behind them on Friday. This is a one-off game and they have to be focused.”
