SCOTLAND’S women slumped to a disappointing 3-2 defeat to Spain in the first of two internationals at Glasgow’s National Hockey Centre.

Coach Gordon Shepherd’s charges raced into an early lead through Linda Clement, only for Spain to hit back three minutes later with a Rocia Ybarra effort.

Ali Bell gave Scotland the lead once again but Beatriz Perez levelled things before half-time. Maria Contardi clinched the win for the visitors.

The two sides meet again tomorrow (9am) at the same venue.
