East women have finished their first campaign in Group One of the AEGON summer county cup at Eastbourne with a highly-impressive third place.
Skipper Mhairi Beattie’s team secured their spot for next year with a 5-2 victory over Kent in the concluding match.
All seven players used on the day contributed and East were helped when a Kent pair conceded at the start of a third set and later withdrew from the final round. However the Scots already looked well in control with teenagers Millie Stretton and Anastasia Mikheeva particularly notable.
East men were already relegated before their concluding match in Group Two at Cromer.
