Volleyball: City of Edinburgh to gauge progress

Have your say

CITY OF EDINBURGH will get a measure of their progress since the start of the campaign when they host South Ayrshire in the John Syer Volleyball Trophy today.

The Capital side lost in straight sets to their opponents in the league at the end of September but since then have improved significantly.

Edinburgh’s standing in the Scottish game was evident this week when no fewer than ten present or past players were included in Scotland coach Tommy Dowens’ training squad of 26 which is building towards next year’s European Championship Small Countries Division finals in Luxembourg.

Elsewhere in the John Syer Trophy tomorrow, Edinburgh Jets, hoping for their first win in the competition, entertain Beacon Fire, who are also winless.

In the women’s competition, City of Edinburgh host favourites Su Ragazzi hoping to spring an upset.
