City of Edinburgh can spark their title ambitions with a victory over Su Ragazzi in the women’s Schelde Sports Scottish Volleyball League tomorrow – and hand city neighbours NUVOC a boost.
Edinburgh lie second in the table behind Troon PA and need three points to keep the pressure on the leaders.
Both teams look to be assured a play-off place, however, with Edinburgh Jets also handily placed in third. Ragazzi currently occupy the final play-off slot but NUVOC are just behind in fifth and are looking to cash in on any slip-up.
NUVOC themselves have a difficult match tomorrow at Jets and face a testing few weeks with their next three league matches being against Edinburgh, Su Ragazzi and Troon.
In the men’s first division, unbeaten City of Edinburgh face a tough match at City of Glasgow Ragazzi in what has been a traditionally fiercely-contested affair. Edinburgh still have several players sidelined through injury and player-coach Barry McGuigan was not happy with the performance in the Scottish Cup last weekend when his team beat second division Su Ragazzi II in straight sets. He feels there is room for improvement.
Edinburgh Jets host champions Glasgow Mets and require a lift before next weekend’s relegation showdown with Troon PA.
