Edinburgh Jets suffered an early setback in their bid to win the women’s Scottish Volleyball League when they let a two-set lead slip at home to Su Ragazzi.
Unbeaten Ragazzi looked in serious trouble as Jets won the first two sets in the clash at St Augustine’s High 25-22, 25-22.
But they answered all of the questions Jets asked of them as they stormed back to take the next two sets 25-11, 25-11 and set up a last-set decider.
It could have gone either way, but Ragazzi edged it 15-13 to move clear at the top as the only unbeaten team in the division.
Jets had moved on to their shoulder with a 25-22, 25-17, 25-13 win over North Lanarkshire in a rearranged match last Thursday to put them in good fettle for the top-of-the-table clash.
In the men’s first division, reigning champions Edinburgh Jets lost their second match in three starts when they went down at home to City of Glasgow Ragazzi 16-25, 19-25, 24-26. Even at this early stage in the season, Jets’ title defence looks to be in trouble.
