NUVOC battled into their second successive men’s Scottish Volleyball Cup semi-final but had to work hard to see off First Division Dundee.

The Edinburgh side, who reached last year’s final as a lower division club, eventually came through their quarter-final 25-17, 25-23, 22-25, 25-14.

It sets up a derby with City of Edinburgh in the semi-finals – City overcoming Bellshill Cardinals convincingly, 25-9, 25-14, 25-14.

There will also be an all-Capital clash in the women’s semi-finals as City of Edinburgh and Edinburgh Jets both won through their quarter-final ties.

City beat QTS Troon II 25-14, 25-7, 25-12 and Jets beat NUVOC 25-21, 25-18, 25-22.

But Su Ragazzi look increasingly menacing in the other half of the draw and will face QTS Troon for a place in the final.

Vince Krawczyk, the Ragazzi coach, believes his team is hitting form at the right time.

“The players had a meeting after we felt we underperformed in a couple of matches, losing to City of Edinburgh and Edinburgh Jets,” he explained.

“The players have shown sheer drive and determination to turn it around and all of the players have responded.”
