Second Division leaders NUVOC reached the semi-finals of the Scottish Women’s Volleyball Cup for the first time by upstaging first division Aberdonia.
The Edinburgh side, who are just one win away from securing the division two title, came through in straight sets – 25-14, 25-17, 25-12 – in Aberdeen.
It gave them a flavour of what to expect in the top flight next season if they make the step up. There could be three Edinburgh teams in the semi-finals of the cup, with Edinburgh Jets facing Dundee and City of Edinburgh hosting North Lanarkshire this weekend.
It was a big weekend at the top of the men’s first division with South Ayrshire going two points clear after beating closest rivals Glasgow Mets 24-26, 25-22, 28-26, 28-26.
City of Edinburgh moved joint second with Mets after beating Bon Accord 25-19, 25-21, 26-24.
