HAMISH IMRIE today expressed his pleasure at earning his first senior Scotland hockey cap and scoring a wonder goal.
The former Fettes School pupil opened his account by netting as the Scots drew 2-2 with Spain in the final game of their triple-header in Barcelona.
Imrie was one of six new caps in the squad and his goal was a highlight of the development trip. Grange’s rising teenage star – a former Fettes School pupil who is now a student at Edinburgh College –battled his way past several Spanish defenders before keeping his composure to slam the ball into the net.
Imrie said: “It’s been a great last few days out in Spain with the senior Scotland hockey men’s team. Getting my first cap and scoring my first goal was tremendous. Hopefully, there’s more to come.”
Th draw in was in marked contrast to the opening game of the triple-header when they were hammered 6-0 while the second encounter ended in a 4-2 defeat.
