With Edinburgh Rugby indicating they will announce a signing tomorrow ahead of the new season, speculation was rife in South Africa today that Sharks second row Anton Bresler is finally on his way to the BT Murrayfield Stadium.
One blogger went so far as to list a group of players “known” to be leaving with 26-year-old Bresler bracketed as bound for Edinburgh alongside prop Allan Dell, whose arrival has already been confirmed.
Towards the end of last season there was much talk that Bresler, known for a no-nonsense approach, would be arriving sooner rather than later.
However, it appears that a shoulder problem which required surgery hampered the player, although that now appears to have been resolved.
Second row is a position causing some consternation among Edinburgh fans.
New Scotland skipper Grant Gilchrist is returning along with Ollie Atkins and the Toolis’ twins will be expected to continue their development.
But the departure of Sean Cox to London Irish has left Edinburgh short and 6ft 6in Bresler is reputed to be from a similarly uncompromising mould.
