There will be a family fun day held at Stewart’s Melville’s Inverleith ground on Boxing Day featuring three rugby matches.

Over the last few years the day has grown and grown with players past and present putting on their boots for a run around.

The first game will feature a Stewart’s Melville College captain’s select against a vice-captain’s select at noon.

This will be a chance for people to see some of the best young talent that is coming through the ranks.

Next up at 12.45pm will be a match featuring some of the club’s players from yesteryear as ‘The Old Crocks’ take on ‘The Has Beens’.

To finish things off at 1.30pm a Stewart’s Melville Development XV will take on the Stevie Sims Cavaliers.

The Development squad includes the likes of first-team regulars Hugh Lindsay, Fraser Christie and Andrew Manson.

The Cavaliers are led by Ali Crawley and were set-up to raise money for charity after former Stewart’s Melville player Sims died a few years ago.

The select team have played in a number of sevens tournaments throughout the year and are hopeful of putting out a strong squad for this match with many players back in Edinburgh for the holidays.

Entry is free.
