ROSS CURLE, who captained the Scotland Club XV to a 23-18 victory over their Irish counterparts earlier this month, has been omitted from the side for tomorrow night’s clash with English Counties at Fylde pending a disciplinary hearing.
With the centre being cited following an alleged dangerous tackle last weekend when his Ayr side defeated Heriot’s, the captaincy switches to Currie No.8 Ross Weston. Ayr hooker Fergus Scott – brother of Scotland centre Matt – will start in the front row in place of Gala’s Russell Anderson, and Ewan McQuillin will start at tighthead prop, replacing Struan Cessford. Currie back-row Malcolm Peacock, Ayr prop Fraser Watt and Heriot’s full-back Keith Buchan are named on the bench where they could win their first caps.
Team: Fraser Thomson (Melrose), Craig Gossman (Ayr), Liam Steele (Heriot’s), Chris Auld (Gala), Scott McLeod (Hawick), Stuart Edwards (Heriot’s), Graham Wilson (Heriot’s), Nick Beavon (Melrose), Fergus Scott (Ayr), Ewan McQuillin (Melrose), Russell Nimmo (Heriot’s), Iain Moody (Boroughmuir), Jason Hill (Heriot’s), Ross Weston (Currie), Peter Eccles (Melrose).
