Paul Whitson was man-of-the-match as Dalkeith defeated Duns on Saturday and kept up their BT East One title bid with two matches remaining.
The men from Midlothian needed to win with a bonus point to stay within touching distance of leaders Berwick and second-placed North Berwick.
A 47-20 victory did just that and it means that with fixtures left on March 14 and March 28 they are five points behind Berwick and one point behind North Berwick. Rob Dahlstrom, Andy Hamilton and Dave Walker all ran in two tries apiece for Dalkeith. Ryan Reid scored one try and Paul Clugston converted six of the tries for a personal haul of 12 points.
Linlithgow are up to fourth place after they won their home encounter with Langholm 53-5.
Tom Sneddon helped himself to a hat-trick of tries with Stuart Cunningham and Jack Frame grabbing two apiece.
Stuart Bell and Scott Herdman were the other try scorers while Frame converted four of the tries to make sure he ended the afternoon with 18 points.
