Watsonians won the Haddington Sevens on Saturday and the Gala Sevens yesterday.

In the first round at Haddington, Watsonians beat Pigbarians 52-0 whilst, amongst the other teams to make it through to the quarter-final, were the hosts who defeated Lasswade 22-7.

In the last eight, ‘The Myresiders’ – a Watsonians second VII – lost out to Melrose 17-10 while Haddington defeated a President’s VII 33-5.

Watsonians then eased past Musselburgh 48-0 and Boroughmuir Bears defeated Boroughmuir 24-15.

In the first semi-final, Haddington pushed Melrose close, but were edged out 17-10.

Watsonians saw off Boroughmuir Bears 21-5 to see them into the final. In that final, Watsonians beat Melrose 24-12.

Yesterday at Gala in the first Kings of the Sevens event, Edinburgh Accies defeated Peebles 24-7, but then lost to Gala in Pool One.

In Pool Three, Edinburgh Rugby defeated Watsonians 29-26 – Otulea Katoa leading the way with two tries – but then lost to Melrose. It meant Sonians’ defeat of Melrose put them in the last four.
