EDINBURGH Rugby will complete preparations for the competitive season by visiting Hawick to tackle Newcastle Falcons in their second and final warm-up fixture.
The Mansfield Park match will kick off at 7.45pm on Friday August 30.
Meanwhile, Edinburgh have been warned they need to develop momentum in the Pro 12 league before opening their European Cup campaign.
Fixtures just announced reveal Edinburgh will start against Munster at Murrayfield on Saturday October 12.
Former captain Scott Hastings said: “Edinburgh were absolutely hammered by Munster in both games last year.
“Their domestic record did not set the heather alight either.
“There is a lot to sort out within Edinburgh but what is important is that an intensity is developed before Europe.
“This is the time to be optimistic and if there are to be criticisms they will come later.
“But the one blip in Edinburgh’s Heineken Cup fortunes came two years ago when they scraped over the line in their opening match at London Irish.
“They then got a win at home and that put them in with a chance. Something similar will be required but, no matter what you say, this Edinburgh team will have a tough time in the Heineken Cup and they have a lot to prove.”
After Munster are entertained, Edinburgh head to Perpignan. The first of two December fixtures is at home to Gloucester.
Opening pool ties: Saturday, October 12 Munster (home, kick-off 1.30pm); Sunday, October 20: Perpignan (away, (kick-off 1.45); Sunday, December 8: Gloucester (home), kick-off 1pm).
