An impressive performance against them last year whilst on loan at Nottingham has earned released Edinburgh Rugby hooker Alun Walker a contract with the Ealing Trailfinders.

Now 23, Walker came through the ranks at Musselburgh before moving on to Currie and his all-action style around the pitch gained him Scotland Under-18, 19 and 20 caps.

After impressing whilst on an EDP contract with Edinburgh Rugby he turned pro in the summer of 2012 but found his first-team chances limited and often turned out for Melrose in the RBS Premiership.

In the season just finished, for a large spell he was on loan at Nottingham in the Greene King IPA English Championship and it was in a match for them against Ealing that he impressed the latter’s director of coaching Ben Ward.

Walker said: “Alun is a modern day hooker. He is a big lad, but has a very good running and handling game.

“I was very impressed with him when he played for Nottingham against us.”
