France today made seven changes to their team –including a fresh back row – for Saturday’s visit to Murrayfield after a humiliating 27-6 defeat in Wales.

Some were expected due to injury and suspension but, in wielding the axe, coach Philippe St Andre has recalled Maxime Medard and Maxime Mermoz to the threequarter line for Bonneval and Fofana while Maxime Macheneaud starts at scrum half for Jean-Marc Doussain.

Up front, Brice Mach is included at hooker while the back row has Clermont pair Alexandre Lapandry and Damian Chouly alongside Sebastian Vahaamahina. Omitted are Lauret, Picamoles and Nyanga.

France: Dulin, Huget, Bastareaud, Mermoz, Médard, Plisson, Machenaud, Domingo, Mach, Mas, Pape (captain), Maestri, Vahaamahina, Chouly, Lapandry. Subs: Guirado, Debaty, Slimani, Flanquart, Doussain, Talès, Fickou.
