HATTY CUMBER, a 19-year-old geography student, grabbed a hat-trick of tries as Murrayfield Wanderers claimed a tenth Scottish women’s rugby cup in 14 years by hammering Melrose 68-20 at Broadwood Stadium.

Wanderers led 34-6 at half-time and tries flowed from Laura Steven (two), Cat Ward, Alex Read, Lisa Robertson, Lisa Martin, Elise Allier and Suzy Hex.

Winger Cumber was player-of-the match.

Broughton women won the Bowl dispatching Ayr 17-7. Try-scorers were Amy Neill, Ceri Lynn and Ivanna McConnell. In the Plate, Watsonians women went down 12-27 to Cartha despite tries from Emily Catterall and Cat Knott.
