The Watsonians back three lit up their charity match with the Co-Optimists on Saturday at Myreside.
Wingers Rory Steele and Chris Berkery ran in two tries apiece while full-back Ally Ledingham was a constant menace in attack in the 36-22 win.
In a match raising funds for the Euan MacDonald Centre for MND Research the home side gave a run out to an extended squad – including cameo appearances from coaches Marcus Di Rollo and Barry Stewart.
The Co-Optimists, coached by Dave Cockburn, Gavin Blackburn and Rupeni Ragia, had a number of local players involved including Stewart’s Melville hooker Nick Hart and Musselburgh stand-off Danny Owenson.
The Co-ops took an early lead before Watsonians scored four tries before the break to lead 24-5. The pick of these came from Steele after he was set-up by Ledingham.
In the second half a raft of substitutions made things a bit more stop start, but ’Sonians still managed to add two more tries while the Co-Ops scored three of their own.
For the home side, as well as the back three, young forwards Tom Gracie, Matt Poole and Ross Buchan impressed while scrum-half Matt Page was a livewire.
