Alex Allan, a 21-year-old Edinburgh Rugby prop who broke his leg at the end of last season, has been cleared for action when Accies face Hawick at Raeburn Place on Saturday.
Compounding the misfortune of Allan, who had earlier made a pro debut in a Heineken European Cup clash with Munster, was the fact his injury came in a training accident on the eve of a scholarship to New Zealand.
Allan had the plaster cast removed at the end of May and a period of rehab has seen him made available for this weekend’s club programme when Accies also list sevens cap Chris Dean on the bench. Aware that his side have won both matches by a single point, Accies coach Jonny Else said: “We must be disciplined and cut errors. Hawick always bring passion and bags of skill.”
