Leaders Dunbar had to battle hard to defeat Broughton in RBS East Two on Saturday.

With the league split on the horizon the men from East Lothian were looking to keep their form from 2011 going, but they came up against a stubborn Broughton. In the end they triumphed 33-5, but the hosts gave as good as they got. Calum Champion opened the scoring for the visitors to the Capital after 12 minutes and another came two minutes later through Keiran Donnellan.

A third try came before the break from Tom Thornton-Smith and at that stage Dunbar had worked hard to build up the 19-0 advantage. Twelve minutes into the second half Broughton scored an unconverted try, but they could not mount a comeback as Dunbar upped a gear again for the final 28 minutes.

Jamie Peters grabbed their bonus-point try and Keith Courtney added a fifth as the full-time whistle approached.

Elsewhere, in East Two, second placed Dalkeith won the Midlothian derby 26-17 at Penicuik. Preston Lodge remain unbeaten at the top of RBS East One after a 42-14 East Lothian derby victory at North Berwick.

Forrester defeated Lismore 30-3, Trinity Accies lost 64-13 at Duns and Portobello beat Ross High 39-11 at Cavalry Park.

Leith are now top of RBS East Three after a 42-5 win at Walkerburn. Inverleith beat RDVC and Queensferry lost at home to St Boswells.
