DAN TEAGUE will begin an eighth consecutive stint as captain of Edinburgh Accies tomorrow and only Alex Crombie, the club’s inaugural skipper from 1857-65, can surpass that feat.
It is appropriate, therefore, that Accies are able to wheel out their big guns for an opener at Currie including ex-Scotland threequarter Simon Webster alongside three players with Edinburgh experience – Alex Black, Jamie Farndale and Hamish Watson.
Currie’s hopes could rest largely with antipodeans Adam Hinds (stand off) and Simeon James (centre) on a day when prop Ally Hamilton makes a long-awaited return and Dougie Fife is released by Edinburgh.
Currie coach Ally Donaldson said: “Simeon is reminiscent in style to fellow New Zealander Johnny Smith who gave us a great service a couple of years ago.”
At Meggetland, Boroughmuir have a tough assignment against Ayr and their back row of new skipper Andy Rose, Jamie Swanson and Iain Moodie will prove influential.
Heriot’s are at Gala with second row CJ Osazuwa fresh from winning international caps for Nigeria over the summer and OJ Brown back at stand off.
